When you have the floor in a Zoom meeting, minutes become memorable when you can deliver a meaningful message at the right time without making a mistake. At any point during a conversation, a presentation, or a facilitated meeting you might need to change gears in what shows up inside of your camera and you can’t rely upon who has permission to share their screen or not.

If you are a real estate broker and your goals were to support your agents to be more productive and recruit new talent, you need a systematic way of showing up for multiple video meeting types. Not only that, your message AND new media you use to show up can dramatically set you apart so that any other company being considered is just behind the times. To do that in today’s age, you need a studio with a green screen, a virtual camera, and a stream deck console to operate the navigation between the virtual backgrounds (also known as scenes) and visuals that appear inside of your Zoom meeting.

A stream deck is a video game-like console that plugs in to your computer using USB. There are different size stream deck devices ranging from 6 to 32 buttons. Assuming you are like me, you go for the 32 button device because you need more real estate, i.e., options to present unique visuals that support your message during a meeting.

You will also need to create an image and video virtual backgrounds in Canva and import them into your virtual camera software. Then after each video or image background design, you load them into your virtual camera software and program each Stream Deck button to correspond with each background you have created.

There are two size devices for Stream Deck to consider buying.

Here are the 32 buttons I would recommend for a real estate franchise or broker owner:

  2. Run a scene with a video background of office meeting kickoff.
  3. Run a scene with a video background of market statistics.
  4. Run a scene with a video background of performance and recognition in the marketplace.
  5. Run a scene with a video background of performance in the marketing place.
  6. Run a scene with a video background of the office tour.
  7. Run a scene with the video background of the app demo.
  8. Run a scene with a video background of participant chat engagement.
  9. Run a scene with a video background of contact/subscribe call to action.
  10. Run a scene with a video background of a birthday celebration to acknowledge someone if it’s their birthday.
  11. Play a pre-recorded video countdown prior to going live.
  12. Play a pre-recorded video sizzle reel.
  13. Play a pre-recorded video testimonials.
  14. Play a pre-recorded video tutorial (or create a folder button to store each video tutorial as a button in the new subfolder).
  15. Run a scene with a video background of value differentiation #1.
  16. Run a scene with a video background of value differentiation #2.
  17. Run a scene with a video background of value differentiation #3.
  18. Run a scene with an image background of “I will be right back”.
  19. Run a scene with an image background of the office in the background.
  20. Run a scene with an image background with logos of strategic partners and vendors.
  21. Run a scene with an image background of your city’s skyline or local historic monument.
  22. Run a scene that uses PowerPoint, Keynote, or Prezi as a virtual background.
  23. Run a scene with desktop screen share scene for digital whiteboard as a virtual background.
  24. Run a desktop screen share with company-branded lower 1/3 with company contact information.
  25. Run a scene with desktop screen share with replay available message.
  26. Multi-action button with actions 1) Run desktop screen share scene with lower 1/3 and 2) Open agent portal website.
  27. Multi-action button with actions 1) Run desktop screen share scene with lower 1/3 and 2) Open MLS portal website
  28. Multi-action button with actions 1) Run desktop screen share scene with lower 1/3 and 2) Open recruiting website.
  29. Multi-action button with actions 1) Run desktop screen share scene with lower 1/3 and 2) Open agent portal.
  30. Folder of frequently-used applications like Zoom, PowerPoint, Word, etc. available as their own button in the submenu.
  31. Folder of frequently-used websites available as their own button in the submenu.
  32. Folder of ideas.

It’s easy to go overboard with ideas when you have 32 buttons to program into your new stream deck and little time. When getting started it is recommended to experiment using different types of images, videos, and websites as your backgrounds. The more practice you have in creating them and adding them into stream deck, the easier it is to make changes on the fly. And at some point if you reach a panacea of stream deck satisfaction and you want others in your company or brand to use the same configurations, you can export your stream deck profile and share it with others on your team.

As a result of using stream deck to change the way you show up #screentoscreen, you will be able to:

  • Reduces Zoom fatigue throughout your entire company by making your office meetings and training more entertaining.
  • Increases the production quality of your Facebook lives, YouTube Live, or guest appearances on other broadcasts.
  • Combines branded video and virtual presence needed to reinforce your brand’s promise.
  • Dramatically increases your productivity during Zoom meetings (and quality of recorded meetings) .
  • Make fewer mistakes when using multiple software applications, graphics, and websites.
